Urgent Question

Urgent Question

2007-03-02 by Darrell Tyler

Hi!
I have a Yamaha Mark II (DGH1BXG) that is a "Play Only" piano. I have an excellent pianist who will be visiting my home within the next 2 weeks and I would love to be able to record what she plays on my piano and keep it for future listening.
Even though my system is not set-up to do this, is this possible?
Here is what I have:
Late model Gateway Laptop with USB and Firewire connectors.
Thanks
Darrell

The only way you can do any recording, would be to feed the L&R outbuts from the DKC into the Mic/Line input on the laptop and do an audio recording.

Good morning, everyone.

Actually, when the pianist sits down to play a playback-only
Disklavier, there is no MIDI OR audio output. The ONLY kind of
recording you can make is an audio recording using microphones.

I am not familiar with your DKV model, but: If it has a MIDI out connection then it should transmit the MIDI codes of the performances thru this port. Then

I'm not sure if your piano can record at all. I might be wrong, But
I think play only means play only.

Regarding the Usb to Midi Interface I use the Midisport UNO and it
works like a charm. I paid 29.95 for mine.

Heres the link on the product:
