PianoDisc CREAToR compatibility?
2007-03-14 by Aaron Zornes
I have amassed some $5K of Yamaha software titles from US, Japan, and Europe. Plus Roland, Korg and other compatible high quality MIDIs. What has eluded me are high quality Billy Joel performances. THis week-end I tripped across PianoSoft again as I have a good number of their classical performances. They now have a product line that is similar in concept to Yamaha's Smart Pianosoft ... that is, one can have an audio CD playback both the original audio CD aas well as a piano accompaniment. As standard though, no one at PianoDisc knows if this is compatible with the Smart Pianosoft Yamaha technology ... probably not. In any case, does anyone know if it does work? Has any one tried their CREATOR line of titles on a Disklavier? See http://www.pianodisc.com/products/details.aspx?id=73561 THANKS. --Aaron in San Francisco (DC6A Mark III) email from PianoDisc follows

Hi Aaron, Thank you for your email and for sharing your interest in our PianoDisc Sync/Creator library. Our PianoSync/Creator technology works like this. 1. You purchase a Piano Creator disk from PianoDisc 2. You purchase a compatible title from your favorite store (tower records, best buy, etc..). 3. You merge the two disks with a program call iTunes that you can download off the internet for free. 4. You transfer the merged files to a CD and then play them on your PianoDisc system. With Disklavier this process is handled in a different way. You have a CD of the artist that is played along with a floppy disk that handles information in MIDI format. Though I am not completely familiar with the programming processed used, or with how Diskklavier handles there information, I do not think that our PianoSync/Creator technology is compatible with their systems. I think that perhaps you might contact Yamaha and check with them before you purchase. With best regards, Michael
