Has anyone here ever considered changing the disklavier group over to Google groups? The feature set at Google is now on par with Yahoo and their interface is

I should mention that one of the biggest advantages of Google is that the emails it sends are very unobtrusive. They just have a couple of lines at the bottom of the message, instead of Yahoo's enormous advertising scaffolding.

Some of us may have objections to the Google world philosophy. They refuse to recognize the good ole US of A with any semblance of honor or respect. They refuse to note any of our national historical holidays like Memorial or Veterans Day. They will make their Google mast head green for Saint Patrick's Day and recognize Canadian Memorial Day but take a very proactive anti-American position. Is this acceptable to DUG members? Now that you mention it, Google does post the 4th of the July. I remember seeing fireworks on that day. I don t think the other comment is accurate.

Google gives you 100MB. I m not sure what Yahoo does, but you can fit quite a lot of midi in 100MB, especially if you upload them as compressed zip files.

Thanks Mark. All things considered, I still think that Google is a better (and less annoying) alternative than Yahoo, but I appreciate the insight. There is

Why not setup another additional group on Google. You then have the storage capacity of both. I belong to several groups now so subscribing to one more is no big deal. In fact if you do not subscribe to the PianoDisc group you are missing out on a lot of good relative information and free stuff. _http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/PianoDiscUser/_ (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/PianoDiscUser/) Plus it will convince you even more that you made the best choice when you bought a disklavier. However PianoDisc does offer some nice products that Yamaha does not have. Like "Creator" a new technology that brings superstar performers and their hit CDs to your piano and "CD Wireless" connects a CD changer to PianoDisc systems. PianoDisc disks are just as expensive as Yamaha but they typically have twice as many songs. Either way there is a lot of knowledge shared on both sites. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. I agree with the comment about Yahoo 'looking the other way' and allowing pedophile oriented content. Here is the article about Google. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52947 There are other articles that parallel this report. Mark in Idaho Carl Youngblood wrote:

Hi, A proactive, anti-American position? I don't understand this objection to Google at all. Here is a link that shows all the special holiday logos that Google has put out since 1999. _http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html_ (http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html) I see a Canada Day, but no Canadian Memorial Day, and they haven't done that in a few years. They seem to put the United States Independence day, however, every year. Sorry for the rant, but there may be many objections to moving or supplementing with Google, though this is not one of them. Wow!. The article that you referred to highlights attacks by Ann Coulter: Coulter exposes liberals' 'Godless religion' and a series of articles about Christian ads, anti-deLay, pro Clinton etc articles. Google took a position saying their funny icons might be construed as disrespectful of days like Memorial or Veteran Day. Do we really want to get into political discussions about Disklaviers? (I like the way there is "agreement" that Yahoo looks the other way in allowing pedophile content on its site! which is worse, political positions pro or con on issues relating to the exercise of free speech or positions that seem to encourage child abuse!) I would suggest that you decide which site can work best for delivering midi music and disklavier material and go with that site if possible--and leave the discussion of free speech issues/pedophile support off the web page for disklaviers. Sounds like there are benefits to both sites from a disklavier only point of view that make more sense to discuss. Given that the rest of the logos are celebrating the births of major scientists or artists, it seems like Google have a very strong USA bias (which is what you would expect for a US multinational company). From what I know (and I am probably wrong), Canada day has far more in common a celebration such as July 4th or St. Patrick's Day than Veterans day. In any case, why should Google risk upsetting a major part of their user base by doing that anyway - when these events essentially celebrate wars that were (and are) still questionable in their motives. Quite frankly I don't see what any of this has to do with DUG members though. There are members of this forum all around the world, Yamaha is a Japanese company and not American, and whether Google recognises US Memorial or Veterans days is simply not relevant to the discussions. Regardless, I really despise what Yahoo have done to their email groups, and will welcome any move away from the system - it is *horrible* to reply to emails now (no doubt this is the plan - get everyone onto the web forums and it gets much easier to track your movements using cookies installed by adverts).
