MK4 speaker Placement

MK4 speaker Placement

2007-09-07 by yeloc2

Anyone have any ideas about the best place for the yamaha monitor
speakers. I have the DC1m4 coming and because it is the 5ft 3 in, I may
not have room for the humidifier tank underneath, so I was wondering
about putting my speakers on the floor to gain room. Any thoughts about
the speaker quality on the floor vs mounted under piano? I have a
carpeted floor and the speakers when mounted aim basically down into
the carpet so I thought they might sound better aimed out and up from
the floor. There is the cosmetic issue of course. Does the sound board
have any purpose with the speakers when mounted directly below it?

Thanks

The speakers will come preinstalled on the Mark IV. Forget the water tank
under the piano. I don't think it is a very good idea to install the
humidifier tank with all those electronics. Better to put a humidifer on
your furnace or heat pump (way more complicated) that put the the piano tank
on the piano. Just my opinion.

The speakers aren't removable are they? You have the option to install
other speakers (in lieu of or in addition to the built in ones). While I
don't think the soundboard contributes anything to the speakers, the
placement there probably is slightly better as far as balance goes with
the sound of the strings. (If the carpet is attenuating the speakers it is
also attenuating the strings).
