Thinking about upgrading to a Mark IV...

2007-10-01 by rwberry99

Hi All,

I've had a DC3A Mark III for a couple years now, and it's a great
instrument. However, it seems to be at the end-of-life as far as any
enhancements go.

I stopped at the local store and inquired about trading it in for a
MC3M4. The first quote from the salesguy was shocking. While he was
willing to give me nearly what I paid as a trade-in (I paid $33K, he
was willing to offer $30K) , his quote was nearly retail (I would end
up paying another $30K + tax.)

Of course, the store has to make a profit, but I can't understand the
Mark III versus Mark IV doubling the price.

I looked through the "what I paid for my DKV" database, and the prices
vary from $27K (which is a little unrealistic) to $45K. The $45K is a
little high, but at least it's in my ball park.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Bob

Too bad that Yamaha has decided to provide no upgrade path for Mark
III owners (besides total trade in). Everytime prior to this, they
have done this. I personally don't understand why we can not
purchase a new control unit which has some of the features of the
Mark IV. They could use this same new control unit for their
upright pianos. They could be collecting our monthly Internet
Radio fees right now :)...
