Hi, I think my disklavier is broken or need adjustment. When I play some floppies, the timing of the notes is terrible in acoustic mode but sounds fine in digital. Is there a way to have the disklavier readjust itself or do I need to call a tech to do this? Is this normal for the timing to go off like this? It sounds like the keys are not being struck when they should. I notice this problem with floppies or cds that only play piano. The ones I have that also have voice or musical accompaniment don't seem to have this timing problem (but maybe the other sounds are masking it). Thank you for any insight in this matter. --Ron

Ron, From your description, it sounds as though your Disklavier set-up may have been modified and is no longer applying the normal 500 ms delay. To verify whether this is the case, press the following keys on your DKV Control Unit: 1) Press the FUNC key (located on the button row). 2) Press the right arrow key (located beneath the PLAY/PAUSE button) to select MIDI Setup and press ENTER. 3) With the cursor flashing on Piano Part, press ENTER. 4) Verify in the message display that the bottom row of text reads: Delay IN (500 ms)=ON If you see Delay IN (500 ms)=OFF, you'll want to change this setting. 5) To change the delay setting, press the right arrow to move the cursor to the bottom row. 6) Turn the rotary dial (VOLUME | TEMPO | TRANSPOE | BALANCE) clockwise until you see: Delay IN (500 MS)=ON 7) When done, press the FUNC key (on the button row). Please report back on your results. Robert --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "uhhmmmmmmmmmm" <ronjong@...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I think my disklavier is broken or need adjustment. Good morning, everyone. The 500ms delay feature only affects data played from an external source, such as a computer or a DRS1. Regards, PianoBench www.georgelitterst.com www.timewarptech.com

If the action is getting a bit worn or has had some work done to it, you could try re-calibrating the piano.
Hold down the Song Select buttons [<<] & [>>] while you power up. This gets you into the maintenance mode. Press the [R] button until the display comes up with "KEYBOARD MEASUREMENT". Press the Play button. the piano will start playing notes repeatedly. While this is going on, don't touch any buttons or keys! Eventually (hopefully) it will come up with "OK! PRESS STOP". Press the Stop button, switch off and the power up again normally. This should have re-written the piano tables and compensated for any changes in the action.

I thought that the "Mark subject line made that question a bit obsolete.

I thought that the "Mark III" bit in the subject line would have made that question somewhat obsolete. ;)
