Smart PianoSoft disk convert to MIDI?

Smart PianoSoft disk convert to MIDI?

2009-02-26 by panthersong

Hello all -- I joined this group in the hope someone might be able to
help me figure out how to convert the songs on a Smart PianoSoft disk
I purchased from their current proprietary format to MIDI files. I'd
read online that this should be possible and had downloaded a
converter program. However, when the disk arrived, I couldn't read it
in my PC. Further reading would indicate it's a 720K diskette format
and that I might need an old IBM PC in order to run software that
would let me read it? I don't own a Disklavier but I'm desperately
trying to get sheet music for one of the songs on the disk (since that
sheet music isn't available any other way). If anyone could help me
figure out how to do this, I'd really appreciate it. Once I have the
MIDI file, I should be able to print sheet music using Cakewalk. Thanks.

Try the instructions and software on my website www.carolrpt.com
What song is it? I might already have a conversion.
In order to print the sheet music so that you can read it, you will probably
need to quantisize the file - as in set the timing signature - but at least
you will get the idea.

Hi there,

What song is it you want sheet music for? Maybe someone here has already
transcribed it (or would do it for you)

Regards

James

Dear Carol,

Thank you so much for your message and for the fantastic web site. The
information there is wonderful and answers my questions, I believe.
The disk I bought is "Duets" by Barbra Streisand (disk 00505267). The
song I want to make sheet music for is the last one, "All I Know of
Love." I've tried everywhere to find the sheet music for this song and
so far haven't been able to locate any. But I will try the steps you
suggest to get a midi from the disk and keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks again,
Gale

Hi James,

Thank you for your offer of help. The disk I bought is "Duets" by
Barbra Streisand (disk 00505267). The song I want to make sheet music
for is the last one, "All I Know of Love." If someone has already
transcribed this song, I would be very grateful for a copy of the
song. I got a reply from Carol who suggested I try the steps on her
web site and I will do that, but if I'm not successful, I would be
willing to send the disk to someone who might be able to help. Thanks
again for your post --

Regards,
Gale
