Hard disk memory

Hard disk memory

2009-03-07 by homme4zen

Does anyone have a solution to hard disk memory- I am out of space, have 40GB of stuff loaded. I have talked directly to Yamaha who are trying to find a solution- I told them I will not buy any more software if I cannot add it to my hard disk. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

Michael,

I have repeatedly asked for a larger HD than the 80 GB HD on the Mark
IV. I have not had any space left on my Mark IV's HD now for over
three years. Prior to that time I regularly bought Yamaha software,
but since filling my HD I have ceased entirely to buy Yamaha software.
I have an external USB high capacity drive attached to my Mark IV, but
of course you cannot install or copy Yamaha software on to that
external drive.

About a year ago Bill Brandom of Yamaha indicated to me in a private e-
mail that he was raising this issue with the Japanese on one of his
trips there, but since then I have never heard any more about it and
Bill has not been present on these forums for a long time.

High capacity hard drives are very inexpensive now, and I cannot
believe that it would be difficult for Yamaha to replace the HD in the
Mark IV with a much larger HD, but they seem to have no interest in
doing so and apparently the only way to get a larger HD will be to buy
the Mark V when it comes out -- a very expensive solution to the
problem!

Thanks- hard to believe that Yamaha Japan doesn't get it on this issue.
