Looking for more music for my disklavier MarkIV -

2009-03-07 by dmacphee2001

I am looking for more music or a site where I can look up songs and locate the site to get the songs from. I am looking for plain piano music not the fancy stuff.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Greetings dmacphee2001,

you can find MIDI files with the VanBasco MIDI search or just by using
google with the song title and MIDI in the search string.
unfortunately most of the music is multi part. piano solos are rare
and adding "piano solo" to the search string usually dos not help to
prioritize the search. so if you want to find a particular title you
may have to look through a lot of garbage first.

if you are looking for free MIDI files from piano roll scans you can
check Warren's site at the following link. these are all solo piano,
most are from 88 note rolls so are lacking expression. Ampico Duo-Art
and Welte rolls will have expression.
http://www.trachtman.org/rollscans/RollListing.php

i sell music from piano rolls either as a complete collection of over
4000 titles or as CDs for the Disklavier which can be made from your
choices. http://www.spencerserolls.com/zencart/ i also provide free
files if you just want a few or if you want them for research or
educational use or for use in Senior facilities. the shopping cart has
a search facility as well as samples of all titles.

Thank you. I have purchased some music from you and found it to be great!
Just seeing if there were artists recording some new stuff as well for a
complement of what I have. Thanks for your help!

I want to add my endorsement to Spencer's posting about his roll scanned MIDI files. They are excellent and meet his high standards. Also check ragtimemusic.com for free download access to about 400 rare piano solo performances. You can download and play them with Van Basco or you can browse to the site and play the ones you want right from the net. You can use Van Basco as your default MIDI player or any other like Media Player, Real Player, etc.

I have been collecting midi files for 8 years, I must have 20K files. I am always interested in new collections on line, and I am specifically interested in "You made me love you" variations. Almost everything is available somewhere in the world and will provide good to excellent music.Maybe we should set a contest of the top ten files anyone has collected and share them

Greetings Joel,

any suggestion as to how to find the solo piano MIDIs without spending
a week looking through your offerings?

Try these ---

* http://www.piano-e-competition.com/ecompetition/midi_2008.asp (There are links for prior year competitions, too.)

* http://www.piano-bar.com/

* http://www.perfessorbill.com/pbmidiall.shtml

Keep the ideas coming. Anybody care to post some of their own performances to the Files section of this group?

They’re not “my” offerings — I’m just another guy searching the web for midis. :)

I generally search for a composer I’m interested in, click the midi tab and check out the samples. Quality varies widely, that̵7;s for sure.

I’d love for the talented players here to download more homegrown files to the group’s website, but that’s easy for me to say since I am definitely not one of those players. Fortunately, the e-competition musicians — even though their recitals may not follow what I feel like hearing at the moment — are really talented.
