Any luck with non-Yamaha music?

Has anyone purchased music from non-Yamaha vendors and been happy with the results on your Disklavier? Maybe some of the stuff from Pianomation or PianoDisc?

The Disklavier diskettes offered by Live Performance are excellent:

Also look into the piano roll conversions offered by Peter Phillips:

Spencer Chase:

and Terry Smythe:

Newbie here. Dislavier mark iv coming on Monday. What do I need to do to get midi files ie spencersrolls cd of 4852 midi files playing on the system? Is it as simple as popping in the cd to the media center and hitting play or is there more to it?

Thanks
Nik

I have both Custom and Stock CDS made for the Didklavier from Reproducing piano roll music. These will pop in the CD drive and play. I also have MIDI files that can be played from a computer through the MIDI input port or can be converted with Mark Fontana's Mid2PianoCD into files which can be burned to CD. Together with Mark's program and some utilities that are available from my website you can do all sorts of things with these files.

My personal preference is playing MP3 (for the DKV it is best to use WAV) using Media Monkey. It has so many features and plugins that it can satisfy virtually any user requirements. Even plays MIDI too and you can import the meta data using one of my utilities to export it and an couple of addons for MIDI and data importing. There is an article on my blog about how I do this with LX pianos. It is essentially the same for the DKV except that it does not do well with MP3 files so you have to get a little creative. I will add more information to the blog if people are interested in the MIDI addon and or the meta data management for Media Monkey. I thought Itunes was OK until I discovered MM. http://spencersviews.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html Please let me know if you are interested in this sort of information. It took a lot of effort to figure out this file serving stuff (also have information on setting up a wireless media file server for almost nothing that has excellent audio quality) and I would like to share the information with others. There is a link on the blog page for my regular web site which has a download page with a variety of utilities but some needed for the Media Monkey data importing need to be added if there is sufficient interest.
