Battery for PRC-100

Battery for PRC-100

2009-04-28 by sma3us

Hi folks,
My battery for my MKIV PRC-100 is on its last leg. I'm looking to replace with a battery compatible with the Sharp EA-BL08 that it came with originally.
Are there any issues with using a compatible battery? Also, I see the replacement batteries come in two flavors 1700 Mah & 2000 Mah. Since the Sharp is rated @ 1700Mah are there any issues going with the 2000Mah.
Yamaha advised me not to use a substitute battery saying if I fried the PRC-100 it would be $2200 to replace. Perhaps that's a bit dramatic as I believe the risk is low. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks,
Steve

The PRC is a Sharp Zaurus PDA and I got a replacement generic battery from laptopsforless.com for about $20 and it works just fine.
The original was starting to swell and had almost no life off the charger.

The battery capacity is only an indication of its life. It should not have any influence on any other performance. I think I got the 2000Mah, but it isn't marked on the battery itself.

Good luck
Howard

I too got one for laptop for less and it works fine. I think it's the higher rated one.

Hello Steve,

I think I mentioned this ages ago, a 'Yamaha' battery was $261 (what a bloody joke) and I ended up finding a compatable one for $33 it works excellent!

I understand why companies have 'official' parts, but when they are just so so so so so so so greedy with their prices people have no choice in most cases to get something 'compatable'.

Cheers,

Philip

Thanks folks for all your replies. I feel safer going for the generic replacment option. Yamaha quoted me a price of $253.20 but said I might be able to get it cheaper from my dealer. They were right -- the dealer is willing to give me the everyday low price of $130.00 :-) :-):-)
I wasn't a math major, but the online options for around $20 appear better. I'll confirm with an accountant :-|

Need alittle help with Track recording

2009-05-04 by Keith Yamaha

My wife loves her new Mk 4, however she is getting frustrated with figuring out how to record multiple tracks.

She wants to play/ record one track, then play it back and sing/record a second track.

She has Sonar Producers edition software and still struggling to figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Keith
