Disklavier Internet Connection

2009-11-15 by tsgn

I have had a Mark IV for many years, and have used Disklavier radio since the inception. Today I can no longer connect to the internet. Is Disklavier radio down? I tried restarting my network router and modem along with restarting my Disklavier. My pocket controller hangs when I pick internet connection from the menu. It just stays at connecting to the internet. The second menu that usually comes up after you connect, Disklavier Radio, Music Store, Download library, My account, Network update, Never comes up. Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Kevin

Good afternoon, everyone.

Kevin, have you tried disconnecting the Ethernet cable from your
Disklavier and connecting it to a computer in order to determine
whether the problem is external to your Disklavier or nor?

Can you see the piano on your network otherwise? Does the virtual PRC (or DKVBrowser, if you are using it) work?

Yes I plugged in my laptop to the ethernet cable and it connects to the internet perfectly.
Could something be set wrong on the tablet controller?

I am having the same problem. It was working fine yesterday. I can see the piano on my network just fine.

I also noticed if you unplug the piano from the router then it will come back to the main menu so you can at least use the other piano functions. (It gets unstuck)

Hopefully this will start working again soon.

Sounds like your network is fine.

I'm not sure that your inability to start the virtual PRC is related. Did it ever work? What happens when you try to start it?

I suggest shutting down the disklavier entirely (under the piano), let it sit for a few seconds, and turn it back on. I've seen that solve some odd problems in the past.

Hmm, maybe we all jumped to conclusions?

When I try to access it now, I get this:
=====================
Site Unavailable

Internet Direct Connection is temporarily unavailable. Please try back soon. Thank you, The staff at IDC
=====================
So, it might be that your piano is fine!

Re: [disklavier] Re: Disklavier Internet Connection

Yes, I can confirm now that the PRC does, in fact, hang at the "connecting to the internet..." message. Interestingly enough, DKVBrowser is able to display the message below about the service being unavailable under the same circumstances...but in either case, yamaha doesn't appear to be following their typical protocol and both pieces of software are then stuck in a "connecting" state.

And, re-launching dkvbrowser at least gets you a "disconnect" button that will unfreeze both of them.
