[disklavier] Price on DGH1BIIXG (5'3")??

[disklavier] Price on DGH1BIIXG (5'3")??

1999-12-20 by Michael

Hi,

I'm considering purchasing a DGH1BIIXG and was told by DUG to direct
questions of price to this board instead. Does anyone know the list
price of this piano?

And so long as I'm here I might as well also ask what prices people
have paid for their pianos. I surmise that 40% off list is generally a
pretty good price to pay.

Thanks for any help,

Michael Koenig

I'm also looking to purchase a 5'3" disklavier, and I've been collecting
some information on pricing. My understanding is that at ~45% to ~60%
margin, many dealers ask the following:

DGH1B IIXG $23,222.40 to $27,029.60
DC1 IIXG $26,870.40 to 33,269.60
DC1S $29,078.40 to 31,501.60

Negotiating to ~26% margin would result in:

DGH1B IIXG $18,000
DC1 IIXG $20,300
DC1S $22,000

The best prices I've heard people claim are: (Has anyone on the list done
better than this?)

DGH1B IIXG $15,600
DC1 IIXG $18,800

If anyone else has pricing information on the 5'3" disklaviers, I'd be very
interested. I'll offer to summarize any data sent to me in a message to the
group.

I bought a DGH1 IIXG (with record)a few months ago. I went to two
Yamaha dealers about 30 miles apart. I was not trying to have them bid
against each other, but that is what happened. I finally got it for
under 13,000. The initial offer was for 16,500. So, obviously they are
still making money at close to 50% of the list price although I don't
think they would do well selling a lot of their pianos at this rate
:-). BTW, the piano is great!

1999-12-20 by Jack Schueler

I believe we purchased the DGH1B in 1995 for approx Cdn$22,000. At recent
conversion rates this would be about US$15,000. This was not an XG
model. They included a Yamaha TG100 tone generator in the price.
We have been very pleased with it ever since.

The dealer was Walter's Music, Yorkdale Mall, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The DGH1IIXG is a 5'3" grand piano. You can find more information on all of
the models at
 http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi.exe/gDKG00002

Rod,

That sounds like a very good price. Do you mind sharing where you purchased
it?

Thanks,

Steven

We purchased our DC2 IIXG for just under $19,000 one year ago. I think that
the list was about $34,000 at that time.

[disklavier] Re: Price on DGH1BIIXG (5'3")??

1999-12-21 by Todd Muncy

I detect a sudden and (unlike DUG) welcome interest in a free market
exchange regarding pricing. What say I create a data base on our web site
where we contribute the following info:

Model
Date Purchased
Approx Age (or bought new)
List Price (if known)
Price Paid
Dealer Name & Location
Comments

It will be a lot easier to collect info that way and make comparisons by
pouring through all the e-mails. If you want to inquire about a certain
model, issue a request that someone who has one to update the database with
their information. I'll get it set up ASAP.

[disklavier] Re: Price on DGH1BIIXG (5'3")??

1999-12-21 by Rod Meiners

I purchased the piano in Salt Lake City, Utah. The dealers said that it
was a slow time of the year (Sept). I went in around this time last
year and they were starting much higher. Interestingly, the dealers
said to keep the price I bought it at to myself. Funny guys, are they
not?
