more odd goings on

2011-04-17 by martin

hi again,
i managed to get my floppys formatted to the correct type for this RF PPC3 player, i have downloaded a good few songs that work in the player, some say midi file after the title and some say .fil however now the strange thing, a lot of the songs i dowloaded wont play no idea why! on the screen it says i must register the disk, i do that and then it sits on a blank screen with no.1 showing but no title comes up and no music seems to be on the disk although i put it on.

Files with the .fil extension are in the proprietary Yamaha e-seq format which Windows won't recognise.

Many thanks for the replies, been a good help, the ppc3 seems only to read .fil files, i had to format the 2dd disk in a dos window then put it in the ppc3 and press stop and play to register the disk, then i download the fil files then they play on the piano. a bit of messing but got there, i see the majority of files are midi files which ot wont play, i found the convertor programme on the utlils page but when i open it it opens a dos window and asks for the yamaha disk, how do i get the midi files from the web page to pass thru this convertor ? so they come out as fil files ? thanks

i recommend using the midi input and forgetting about floppies. it is true that the event timing is slightly better playing fil files from the floppy but not worth the trouble IMHO

Good afternoon, everyone.

The DKC-850 control unit sounds like a good option for modernizing this particular Disklavier.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
