MK4 Firmware update

MK4 Firmware update

2011-11-06 by Phil Blah

Hey guys,

Has anyone updated to the new firmware yet? 4.01. I was just checking today and it was available. It has on the notes 'minor bug fixes' or something like that. I was going to update it but did not have any time left and I am busy over the next week etc.

Cheers,
Philip

I've updated without a problem. I don't see any change in operation -- the "To From PC" folder still isn't visible with Mac Lion.

issues with DKV Browser & TO/FROM folder on DKC-850 with XP laptops

2011-11-10 by Aaron Zornes

I installed 3.x firmware on new DKC-850 which was upgrade to my DK DC6A MKIII … we had waited until iPhone/iPad support was available

DKC-850 worked fine for the 1st two weeks but one week ago the TO/FROM folder stopped showing as shared resource on our house LAN

Concurrently, DKV Browser stopped working and hangs on XP Svc Pack 3 laptops although iPhones, iPads and iTouches can all see and operate the DKC-850 fine

Good tech fellow Martin at Yamaha USA has been unable to resolve this for us … the DKC-850 access Internet fine, sees D-Radio, and the Apple devices can all see it and operate in (it is on a Netgear Wireless bridge at 192.168.1.103) … but DKV Browser hangs and no PCs can see the TO/FROM folder

W-E-I-R-D !!!

DKVBrowser is most likely hanging because the PC you are running it on can't see the To/From folder. As I recall, I use this to locate the piano's name. That being said...if it had run before, it should have stored the IP of the piano and found it that way.

iPhone/iPad etc don't use the samba share (which is what To/From folder is) which is why they are unaffected.

I haven't been following the DKC-850 progress...so here's a basic question. Has anyone else installed this update and still been able to access the To/From PC folder?

-Kevin

I've been running the 3.0 upgrade to the 850 since introduced with no problems/changes. However, I have had periodic difficulty with my Win7 PC finding the to/from folder (before and after the firmware update). Because my wireless router is set up with dynamic IP addresses instead of individual static IP addys for all of the devices, occasionally if the router is reset (looses power or rebooted) the PC forgets where the Disklavier is on the net. All other devices find it just fine.
My solution;
1. turn off then unplug the entire piano system
2. turn off the PC's that can't find the piano
3. turn off the router
4. turn off/unplug the cable modem

reboot it in reverse order leaving a few minutes between each so they can get settled in with the DKV turned on last.

When everything is settled down, try opening your network sharing center and if the DKV icon is there, right click on it and add it to your desktop as a shortcut icon (write down the IP address as well). Then even when the DKV doesn't show up in the network center in the future, double clicking on the icon seems to always bring up the piano folder and it's IP address.

You may then need to let DKVB know the new IP address.

I've had to do this 3-4 times in the last year everytime my router cycles. I'm going to assign a static IP address to the piano in the future b/c with all the Sonos units and other devices using the wireless net, dynamic IPs can cause conflicts etc.

Also, I always turn off then unplug (have a remote power strip so it's easy to cut the juice) the Disklavier after any use if it's going to be unused for more than a day. I always fire up the system in this order and wait 30-40 seconds between each step:
1.	plug in the entire system (or turn on your power/protection strip)
2.	turn on the wireless network bridge (if you have one)
3.	turn on the MarkIII controller if you have it hooked up as "add-on"
4.	turn on the DKC850.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for the tardy response (I have been out of town/home for 6+ weeks it feels like and am still on the road … not near my DK system)

And THANKS to you two guys for the kind advice.

I’ll test and respond when I get back to San Francisco next week. I am just adding a new WIN7 ThinkPad as my main system so perhaps that will bypass some of the XP or other issues (I hope = easy way out!)

THANKS, again.
