Anyone want to trade or sell some discs?

Anyone want to trade or sell some discs?

2001-08-20 by iamleet@yahoo.com

The pianosoft discs are way too expensive in my opinion. Because of
that I pretty much only have the discs that came with the piano. I
would like to trade the extra ones I have or buy some from others so
I can listen to some other types of music. My wife says I am driving
her crazy with the few discs we have. I am interested in Elton John,
Billy Joel, etc, mostly pop stuff.

Please email me at iamleet@... and I will get right back to you.

Yes, WAY too expensive. What's funny is I would readily buy 3 disks for $40 (price of a CD) before I will ever buy one disk for $30. Too bad Yamaha doesnt realize that, as I won't be buying a single one. Instead of making $40 they lose $90 in this scenario.

These disks are not audio disks produced by the 1000
The cost is much higher to produce these disks. The
editing and musician cost is higher. The market is smaller.
The disks for these machines are edited midi info that is for
these machines. The companies selling these disks are
not realizing large profits. The old pump players cost per song
is much higher. I do not see drastic price drops in the music so
your investment may sit idol

Hi All

That may be so, but that is no reason to rip us all off.
Here in the UK they cost £29 for 30 min's for about 6 songs.
For that price, I can have a good meal with a real pianist. And, if I
eat slowly, I will get 50 plus songs!!!!

Some of the performances are of questionable quality as well. I've been
disappointed with the disks I've purchased, except for the ones recorded by
Gershwin.

>The market is smaller.

True, but simple economics will tell you that that's irrelevant. Say you have one hundred potential customers interested in a title. If you sell the disk for $30, and only 5 of those people are willing to pay that ridiculous price, you made $150 per 100 customers. But if you price it at $12 and sell 15, you made $180. More people are willing to buy at a reasonable price. Myself and many others would actually purchase two or three disks at $12 a piece, meaning youd make even more.

Think of it this way... if I spend $500 at $30 a disk, I have about 16 disks. If I spend $500 at $12 a disk, I have about 41 disks. There's no way Id pay $500 for 16 titles! But 41? Definitely.

>The cost is much higher to produce these disks. The
>editing and musician cost is higher. The market is smaller.

How do you figure that? Sound engineers are very expensive, and they work with real acoustic data. MIDI is a very simple digital format, and is comparatively easy to edit. I'm also not sure why you would think the musician cost is higher.

>These disks are not audio disks produced by the 1000
>The cost is much higher to produce these disks.

The cost of a floppy disk in bulk is around 15-25 cents. The cost of bulk CDs is approximately 2-4 times that cost. You can duplicate magnetic floppy disks at a higher rate than you can stamp CDs. The capacity of a floppy disk is ~1.4MB versus a ~640MB CD. The printed sticker labels on floppy disks are also cheaper than the printed top of a CD.

> I do not see drastic price drops in the music so

I certainly didnt buy a disklavier for playback of commercial software, or else I would have bought one many years ago. I bought mine so I could record and use the silent feature of my MPX1Z in my apartment without bothering the neighbors. No loss for me, just Yamaha.

Re: [disklavier] Anyone want to trade or sell some discs?

2001-08-23 by Donald Dusenbury

You make some good points but consider about 18.000 players were sold last year; not a large customer base. The editing of
these disk for playback on a Disclaver is not the same as standard
midi format. The more disks sold more royalties paided Are you
making available your recordings. I have work with a company
producing these disk for 6 years. I would also like to purchase
these disks at lower cost let us know if you find a source
