DKVBrowser on Windows 7

DKVBrowser on Windows 7

2011-12-19 by Concerned citizen with 3 kids

Bit the bullet and upgraded my personal/musical laptop to Windows 7

Now I can't get DKVBrowser to install/run .. this is a new ThinkPad with Windows 7 Pro Svc Pk 1 ... 8GB ram // 160 GB SSD ... all other apps are quite happy including those running in XP virtual machine

The error message when attempting to run DKVBrowser is

A Jave Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run DKVBrowser. No Java virtual machine was found after searching the following locations: c:users\USER_NAME\Documents\My Software\DKVBrowserRCP_1.9\DKVBrowser\jre\bin\javaw.exe in your CURRENT path

I would post this in the Yahoo support group for DKVBrowser but my request for membership has been pending for 3 months, and there has been no activity in that group for the past 3 months

Anyone out there have a clue? I've reinstalled JAVA multiple times, and all the other apps I use that require a JAVA JRE are quite happy

H-E-L-P!!!!

Thx!

Ouch, sorry. For some reason I didn't get the email about a pending member!

I'll go fix that in a moment.

However, I'm thinking that maybe you've installed a 64 bit JRE and DKVBrowser is looking for a 32 bit version? (Just a guess)

I do all of my development work on Win 7 64 bit, and have no problems with DKVBrowser, but I probably have both 32 and 64 bit JREs installed.

Kevin--

Thx much for the rapid response (and the excellent app DKVB)!

I managed to find a 32-bit version of Java RTE (http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/download/2cbe7a61d860cbe579a430f455875d07/) and downloaded into the same folder as the DKVB install.

That got everything working fine... DKVB didn't like the 64-bit which Oracle/Sun is forcing on us at the moment.

THANKS
