Hi, I have just got a disklavier Mark II and want to start buying new music for it. I have one disc already but even when I turn the volume on it's lowest it is still too loud. Does anyone know if it's possible to turn it down further and if so how I go about it? thanks Caroline

You can use the middle pedal to dampen the sound. It will seem a bit muffled but it will be much quieter. Simply press the pedal down and shift it to the left to lock it down. Larry

This has been a complaint about the Mark II disklavier painos that has not been resolved. The pedal works to muffle the sound and some have edited the velocity of the music with software. I hang a comforter on the wall behind the piano and by varying how much wall it covers, can reduce the volume.

Make sure the hammers are voiced when you get it tuned. Whether it is a grand or upright piano, padding the soundboard with foam helps as does placing the piano on a carpet. You can also turn the velocity number down on the data. Refer to instructions on www.midiplayertools.com Carol Beigel

I own an older Disklavier so not sure about the Mark II but there is also a calibration program that affects how loud the music will play among other adjustments. Perhaps a local service tech could help with this. You could call Yamaha for a suggested name. While I have good volume control, I have come to realize that a piano that can hold its own in a symphony hall is going to acoustically dominate the average living room! With regard to purchasing new music, please also consider and learn how to use the more than 3000 free performances through the wonderful efforts of Terry Smythe and others who have scanned both 88 note and reproducing piano rolls.
