Hello, maybe the answer is somewhere but I coulnt find really so: Another question for the knowers: Beside the yamaha disklaviers titles available are the disklaviers system (and specially mine the mpx1+DKC850) able to play cds and other medias from QRS or Pianodisc or other companies (actually how many different formats are in existence?) ?

If the DKC-850 has the same capabilities as earlier CD-equipped Disklaviers, you should be able to play Yamaha Pianosoft Plus Audio, QRS Pianomation, and SOME PianoDisc CDs. Note that PianoDisc CDs made after mid-2005 include a rudimentary protection mechanism that adds garbage notes to the performance in an attempt to thwart playback on competitors' systems; CDs with this protection scheme are labeled "Silent Drive Plus". I'm not sure whether Yamaha supports such CDs yet. All PianoDisc CDs dated 2004 and earlier should play fine. If someone would like to run some tests, try encoding the same MIDI file to multiple CD formats using MID2PianoCD at http://dp70.dyndns.org/mid2pianocd/ and report back on which formats the DKC-850 is able to play.
