Agreed, it was a shot in the air idea. If the original source to the composition was say noise or audio within the patch . You could with a line recorder reproduce the randomocity produced by a noise module. I understand that’s in a different direction than what you were asking, a sequencer, gate, pulse recorder. 

My system has the lunar M552 voltage to midi converter which I use with the lunar quad quantizer. The M552 has a midi out, so I can record modular compositions back to midi track compositions. I have two midi modules, the original dot com midi 104 & the newer 174, set to midi IN channels 1 & 3 respectively. With the lunar M552 the system is accurate in getting the performance out of the system & into midi, to be reproduced again. It works if I want to live performance over the the top of the original sequence or direct the original sequence to other modules.
