Dotcomformat

Sorry about having the group memberships 'Restricted' now... but the 
spammers (both bots and individuals) have forced this step. Many 
moderators and group owners are having to spend a great deal of time 
deleting inappropriate spam posts, and banning the offenders. It is 
hoped that forcing 'pending' applicants to state WHY they want to 
join this group (as specialized as it is) will help filter-out both 
bots and individual spammers.

Currently, the only other option that Yahoo provides 
moderators/owners is to 'moderate' each and every post, and either 
approve it, or delete it... and in the mean time, it sits in a 
holding-pattern... and that means that those posts won't show up 
until or unless they are approved. Yeah... that's alot more work, and 
if the moderator goes out of town or something for a couple of days, 
the posts just sit... waiting.

Anyway- you won't see many, or any spam posts here because I have 
deleted them as described above, and will continue to. It's not 
foolproof... but it's the best I can do with the tools Yahoo provides 
at this time. I'm talking with Roger about making the same changes to 
the Synthesizers.com group... we'll see. In the past, he has 
preferred to leave the group completely open to the public. At any 
rate, this particular change does not affect anyone who is already a 
member of this group... it's only for for people wanting to join as 
new members.
