So I bought one of Ray Wilson's WSG pc boards, $15 and it's a nicely 
made board. I think I can squeeze the 11 pots and 6 switches into a 
1w panel using some sub-mini Spectrols. Then with a few simple mods,
this noisemaker can be a good source of random or programmatic signals.

 The first mod will be to add a +15v to +9v regulator - possibly just
a 9v pass zener.

 Fortunately the WSG has been very well researched, and there are 5
other mods already available for it - adding some more depth and
latitude to the already versatile unit. Taking this to the next level
calls for some patch points using switched 1/4" jacks, so that the
normal signal path can be augmented using the usual compliment of 
modular signal processing and the existing vco, vcf and vca chain.

 Further off in the horizon is the use of the WSG as a source of some
complex control waveforms - inputs to the vcf's and vca's, perhaps
after being run thru the sample/hold and/or mixed with noise.

 It's really a mini-synth on it's own, but even just as a drone or
mono rhythm source, there's great possibilities in this thing.
