I can tell you it is far from nifty. It is closer to damn cool (being a few steps above fairly nifty <grin>) You still need a normal joystick to feed it voltage, and then it breaks it into the axis outputs. I probably need to add this to my arsenal. :-) To Scott and Dana, a joystick circuit is very simple. What Dana describes is how all the joysticks work on my Korg instruments. Some people like that, some do not. I'll be happy to toss out a schematic for that. You will be amazed at how simple it is. Since Dana asked for a return to zero joystick, I assume you have found the mechanical version of that that you are looking for. Making certain that is exactly zero will require a couple of trimmers. And, then you cannot be 100% certain the joystick will return to exactly the same spot each time it returns. we could whip something up cheap and see how you like it. Another option is to get a free standing PC joystick (more common) and design your module with the 15 pin sub-D connector on the front panel. I am supposed to be doing one of those for the MOTM line. But, I have been too busy with Stooge stuff. Those kind of joysticks typically have buttons too. That is why I mentioned buttons to be some kind of manual gates. If you simply want 2 CVs out, zero in the middle, the circuit is simple. You could fix the voltage outs as +/- 5 volts. Or, you could make them scaleable with a pot or a range switch. Personally, I think you want each output to have an attenuator so it is scaleable. That avoids a processing module to scale the CV appropriate your your modulation use -- especially for pitch bend. Tell me and we will whip up a nice DIY project for the list. To keep it on topic, somewhere down the road we can do one (maybe with more features) in dot com format with a Stooge panel if people are interested.
