Hi Larry, > I bought 5 or so of these for my own upcoming DIY joystick project > that will be integrated into my modular. However, they are not > spring loaded to return to center like Dana wanted. Yeah, that was the one thing about these joysticks that I really wanted - return to center. I bought another really *tiny* joystick from Noble for just that purpose - cost something like $15, but it was return to center spring loaded. A nice thing about it also is that it has a switch built into it - you press down on it to fire the switch. But - it's-a-really tiny, fits easily into the palm of my hand, and its handle is integral and looks a lot like the handle pictured in the Alltronic illustration. It actually will make a nice modulation/trigger control for a keyboard - ergonomically it could be manipulated pretty well with the fingertips or the palm of the hand. > > Scroll down to the 150K joystick (not the 10K). > > the 150K is a nice value. But, no problem working with the 10K > either. Yer right. In my excitement to order the tiny joystick, I forgot to mention what value I wanted, and they sent a 10K. It worked OK with Scott's design. I mainly clung to the 150K because (a) it was the one used in Bernardi's and Richter's designs (and possibly Grenader's as well) and (B) I'm acquainted with it, which I can't say for the 10K at Alltronics. > When I got them from MECI, I order the joysticks and the bat handles. > The joysticks came with the handles, so I have 2 handles for each > stick. Haw! When I ordered, I was too dumb to think about handles, and I got them free as well. It wasn't until later I learned they also sold them separately. > That is the thing about joysticks. what do you want. The designs > can vary so much depending on just waht a person wants. In fact, there are a number of different ways to implement just what Scott did with his alone. I remember this site (I'm sure it's still out there somewhere) where a guy built this massive controller with lord knows how many of those MECI joysticks. It was pretty cool. Wish I could remember it. Take care, Scott
