Hi Terje, --- In dotcomformat@yahoogroups.com, Terje Winther <terjewi@n...> wrote:>I'm looking for a harsher, richer sound in an oscillator, and >remember the Moog sounding more that way. >Of course, I only played a real Moog once about 32 years ago, so >I'd be curious to hear your comparison. Pardon me saying this, but it could be your memory playing a trick on you. >> Well, perhaps, but I do have a tape I made of that MOOG 15, and the sound is definitely richer and even coarser than what I can easily get with the dotcom. Thanks for your information about the comparison of the dotcom and Moog oscillatiors in your system. I've gotten pretty much the same favorable comparision from Guido and a couple of others, so I can now (hopefully) put this subject to rest. Someone suggested that the "coarseness/richness" I hear on some classic Moog recordings may come from the Moog's ladder filter or distortion within the Moog VCA. Ditto for the Arp 2600. Guido suggested running the dotcom osc into my Moogerfooger Lo-Pass filter and then into a VCA for distortion and into the mixer.... Thanks, Terje for your detailed explanation and report -- I appreciate it! Best, - Dana http://www.danacountryman.com I'll keep messing about, and perhaps acheive this sound yet!
