Multi-Segment EG

Multi-Segment EG

2004-12-03 by Larry T.

Good Day Everyone

Does anyone make a multi-stage Envelope Generator for our marvelous
Analog Modular Synthesizers? If you are familiar with the old Casio
CZ synth line then you know what I am referring to. I believe that the
DX-7 also has this ability. I'm sure many of the newer synths do as
well, but who needs digital anyway!!

I'm hoping to find something with 4 to 10 segments, where I can
specify the step that is the Sustain for the Gate and, potentially,
the restart point for the Trigger.

If none of the manufacturers is making one, have any of you seen/heard
abut a DIY version?

Is anyone interested in designing/building such a beast? It does NOT
necessarily need to be Voltage Controlled other then the Gate and
(optionally) Trigger points. (VC of the number of stages might be
interesting…)

Looking forward to what this will generate…

Larry T.

The only analogue Multi-envelope i know is offered by
Doepfer (Ok, buchla has also one, but toooo

Not that I am aware of -- which usually means "yes." ;-)

Great idea, I like that "restart point" feature. Would work nicely with a
"loop" feature, where the end of one segment (or the start of one)
retriggers the cycle; of course, the retrigger segment must also be
selectable.

Well, I've got some rough ideas sketched on paper. I'll kick it around some
more, now, but don't hold your breath for anything practical. Fun to think
about, anyway.
