Unfortunately, this is the case. I had chatted with him via email a
year ago about having the GR-371 built into a dotcom format panel, which
was not going to be an inexpensive undertaking. $700 for the circuit
boards (populated and tested), all the controls and switches) The main
hassle was the front panel, and someplace to put all the 1/4 jacks!

 Well, I moved, Grant is busy these days with cranking out those blue
and beautiful Wiard systems and modules - AND I found that the DIY 
community has been busy fermenting and refining a reverse engineered
version. I had always wanted to bring out the patch points anyway so..
long story short, it looks like it's going to be a DIY version for me.

 It might end up being just as expensive, but with greater flexibility
than the original and of course I'm not about to try to commercialize
something of this nature - it would violate Grant's intellectual
property rights.

If that's for one, I hope those PCBs are made in the US :)

Yes, commercialization would be bad. And for those of us blue-collar 
mortals who aren't made of money, DIY is our only access to the 'bug, 
it seems.

I'm thinking about using another vactrol to control Woggle Time using 
my VC Resistor PCB, though as things are added, the panel may grow out 
of the bounds of common sense.
I'm going to add an LED for the LFO (using Ken's $.50 board -- it's 
$.50!), that's for sure, and was wondering about a couple other ideas, 
but I'll wait til I've tested 'em out before I open my trap about 'em; 
otherwise it's just mouth-talkin'  ; )

 That $700 figure is for BOTH boards; 2 WOGS and the XORs. I dunno
where Grant gets his boards made. The module is amazing with some
12-18 functions built into the design.

 The GR-371 is a dual Wogglebug, so it's got the 2 WOG's and the 
second set of ring modulators. Basically it's a standalone weapon
in that it can make audio AND control signals for your other modules.

 The only thing you can't really do with it is control it from the 
keyboard. (something that half the synth community cheers about, while
the other half wonders what good is it?) personally, this is why I still
favor bringing out the various patch points, allowing new uses for the
Bug - like a keyboard riff being the "salt" for a random sequence, and
so on. 

 MORE CHAOS PLEASE! ;)
