Going to have to second this! These really are fun modules, they are highly intuitive and very addictive, and they pack a lot of functionality into a small amount of panel space. I've already put in an order for another Voltage Mini-Store and the Shift Manager.

Recommended: STG's Time Modules

Hey all,

I’ve been messing around with my new STG Soundlabs Time Modules the last few days, and these are FUN. All the details on how to use them are on Suit’s website (and in his video – see link below), so I won’t regurgitate it here, but if you’re interested in sequencing modules with a little different spin, but still familiar enough to “get” right away, check these out!

Indeed, no Shift Manager yet. I originally ordered one Trigger Mini-Store and one Voltage Mini-Store. I reasoned that, while I didn't know if they would really appeal to me, I've always been happy with Suit's modules so It was bound to worth getting. But once I had a chance to play with the Time Modules a little bit I was sold
and the clock divisor was a big part of what did it for me. Now I can hardly wait to get my hands on the second Voltage Mini-Store and the Shift Manager.

and did you notice that the buss on the Time Buffer supports up to eight Mini-Stores?

Hi Syruss,

I’m ordering a second Voltage Mini-Store myself (my config for now will contain two Voltage units, one Trigger unit and one Shift Manager). If I’m reading your message right (i.e. you don’t have a Shift Manager yet), I think you’re gonna dig it. It’s way fun being able to set the number of steps independently for each Mini-Store, and I really like the unique behavior where changes take effect on the next cycle. On the Mini-Stores themselves, I also luv the quarter/eight/sixteenths subdivisions toggle. It’s said that a tool is considered ”good” if it inspires you to create, and these did that as soon as I turned them on.

So once again, thanks and congrats, Eric!

I think STG's website says it'll feed up to 7 Time modules (which is kind of
an odd number since the Shift Manager kinda dictates that things be grouped
in threes.), but still, that is pretty kewl. Two sets would fit pretty
handily in a single 8-space rack frame. ; )

I've been chatting with Eric a bit about my particular config, and here's
what I'm doing: A portable rack case using Roger's 8-space rack frames on
the front and back. For now the frontside is mapped out as follows:

Left to right:
- Q124 Multiple
- Time Buffer
- Shift Manager
- Voltage Mini-Store
- Voltage Mini-Store
- Trigger Mini-Store
- Q962 Sequential Switch
- Q109 Envelope Generator

But (just thinking out loud here) this would also be a pretty nifty config:

Left to right:
- Time Buffer
- Shift Manager
- Voltage Mini-Store
- Voltage Mini-Store
- Trigger Mini-Store
- Shift Manager
- Voltage Mini-Store
- Voltage Mini-Store
- Trigger Mini-Store

: )

It's my understanding that the Shift Manager is a "must have" to get the most out of the Time Modules. I just hope my modules arrive soon so I can play with them before I have to leave for vacation.

It does say 7 on the site
I would have sworn there were 8 connectors, but then again, not enough sleep + not enough coffee = easily confused. Also you can always daisy chain Time Buffers if you really need more Mini-Stores.

Maybe the mismatch between the number of modules supported by the Time Buffer and the number supported by the Shift Manager is a subtle incentive to keep buying more modules in an ongoing effort to achieve maximum utilization. Though I suspect the Shift Managers support of three modules is a product of panel space and not an attempt to create the modular version of a hotdog / bun quantity mismatch.

I like the idea of multiple sets of Mini-Stores/Shift Managers, but I'm already moving the Q961 out of the 'sequencer' cabinet and unless I want to remove the Q960/963 or the Q119 (or buy another cabinet) I'm all out of room.

that would have the advantage of being able to be powered from only 5
volts, but the Sequential Switch would be a really handy module to
have for complex sequencing.

there are indeed 8 connectors. the 8th goes right to the front panel,
for the front panel sync 24 output.

eh, it's merely a side effect of using octal buffer chips. each chip
can buffer 8 digital signals, so it was either 3 outputs or 7. for
some reason i thought 3 was stingy.

besides, there is no mismatch. the Time Buffer can support 6 Mini-
Stores (with their 2 Shift Managers) and one Time Divider.
