It seems to handle smaller dumps okay - it's just the full one that fails - but i'm reluctant to trust even the smaller ones given the problems i've been having... Be sure to do a MD verify on those files before you rely on them. I'd be surprised if it was the midi device because i use it for other similar dumps to an access virus and an evolver without any problems - but i think the machinedrum might deal with substantially larger files. I think that's true, plus, don't you use Soundiver for your virus, rather than midiox? It's probably just a glitch with the PC - it's relatively old and perhaps it can't keep up with that much sysex data coming through - that would explain the memory problems as I think the program basically freezes but the machinedrum keeps sending data filling up the memory and screwing everything up, as midi-ox can't free the memory when it's frozen... I'm not sure I agree with that. The MD will keep sending the data, but if the program has frozen, it won't do anything with the data. It will just get ignored. Here's a thought. Are you running any virus (not access virus) protection software? You might try disabling that. I've got a mac powerbook as well, so if the bigger buffers don't work, i'll give it a go with that - I guess that will help look into the problem you were having too :) That would be a great help for me.
