my turn (a few demos)

2005-01-30 by Charles Choc, Jr.

Hey everybody. I've been watching from the sidelines for several
months now, learning and listening and basically enjoying myself.
Although they are no where near complete (they're pretty damn rough,
actually), I have a couple of tracks for others to listen to, if they
so choose. Both of these tracks were made with a Korg EMX-1 (synth
stuff) and, of course, my beloved Machinedrum (everything else,
including some synth stuff). Both of these tracks were recorded
'live;' I pressed record and began to switch patterns, with a very
small amount of improvising throughout. Basically, they are both
delightful accidents: I still haven't worked up the courage to begin
to put a proper track together using song monde. And to make matters
worse, I've gotten rid of most of my old gear and replaced it with new
stuff (Access Indigo 2, an MPC1000, and a circuit-bend Roland TR-505),
so I've been spending the last several months putting together a
workflow and trying like hell to get comfortable with it. Anyway,
enough stalling. Let me know what you think, but please, be gentle.

By the way, the "Switch" uses some Korg ESX-1 sampling (taken from a
Public Enemy Track), and by-by the way, these tracks are AAC encoded
because my PC crapped out on me once again and I lost the original
.wav files (luckily I had my music library backed up on my iPod).

P.P.S. I don't know how to do the the basic html stuff of making
hyperlinks, so, unfortunately, you're going to have to cut 'n' paste
the url. Sorry once again. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
