The reason the Microwave XT is such a great monster synth is BECAUSE of its trashiness. Have you ever played with one? I own one, and the filters are a force to be reckoned with. The waveshaping filters are unbelievably nasty and can generate sub-bass patches that will torture your woofers. Another thing: the XT has a huge frequency range - much broader than other digital machines. The bass goes as low as 7Hz.
