First, about the sound example I posted - please allow everyone to have their own opinion. Everyone must not have the same idea if it's good or not. I did not post it to be praised for it being exactly what everyone was looking for. I wanted some reactions from the people who were looking for a harder bassdrum-sound. Specifying what they were looking for in a bassdrum. Just to form a picture. Second, you have to understand that we do not try to please everyone with our products. That's the job of Roland and Yamaha. The result is often uninspiring to me. We try to do uncompromised things that are really cool in some aspects, but probably won't appeal to everyone. That is what I think adds most to the music instrument market, and we think is the most rewarding to develop. Look at what we state to do: "Our aim is to pioneer the development of electronic music instruments by creating innovative, user friendly and magic sound sources." It doesn't say "we want to do the phattest emulation of todays big sounds". Third, if you don't like the sound or the price or the interface or neither - don't buy it! This whole MD-thing is a gamble of that our view of what is cool agrees with at least some other people so we can continue doing our thing. Fourth, the estimated price is USD 1100 for the American market. What is this "I could get a XTR, 909 or 303 for that price"? Sure you can, and if you think that is better value - go for it. In the MD we have been serious about drum synthesis. The MD is a synthesizer just as much as the Microwave or Virus. Drummachines might usually be simple toys, but this certainly isn't. We could have decided to set the goal lower (to ER-1 standards perhaps) and get a lower price. But we aimed higher and you'll have to respect that. As a small synthesizer developer (smallest?) we can never compete with price - so we go other ways. As for the bassdrum demo, it was just a quick thing to get some responses. Perhaps it was a bad idea as I didn't have the time to follow it up with further examples, but I thought it was good to get some feedback. I'm satisfied with the replies I've got and it will influence our plans for MD-upgrades.
