This might _not_ be what you are looking for, but I would buy a soundcard with multiple inputs and it might not be much more than $100.00. In studio environment it would be more handy; you could record both at the same time to different tracks, not messing with mixing volumes and so on. On the other hand, if you are going for live, then mixer would be better.
