yeah i am not sure why you are using a direct box either, i record the MD a lot, most of the time through a console with each individual out, my console is set up to use -10 or +4 signals and the only noise i get is tape hiss, so if your computer is the problem i have no idea how to help, although if i were you i would try recording the stereo outs directly into the soundcard. also ask the question here www.elektron-users.com there are a lot of computer recorders there.
