sounds like you've got a loop going on and the MD is getting confused.
is there a reason why you need both of these connections?  if you're  
just
syncing them, you only need MnM out to MD in (or vice versa, even).

if you do need this connection for a reason (though I really can't  
think of
what that would be), then try limiting what the MnM transmits.  go into
the global MnM menu and you can choose which kind of data is  
transmitted.
just sync and transport data should be enough.  the keyboard,
joystick and sequencer data don't need to go out.
