Basically I'll set up a few midi machines on channel 1 onto a few instrument pads, and sequence little basslines or whatever to shoot over to my Akai s612 sampler or a Synth or anything really....
To not confuse the hell out of myself I used the midi map editor (i think thats what its called) to turn off all the drum pads from transmitting midi notes since I just record drum audio and no longer record drum midi notes like my old anal retentive days...
Works awesome to trigger synths, you can do a lot of things with the Note 1 & 2 parameters etc...
Its basically a built in sequencer in your MDrum.... love it....
I do own a full on midi sequencer and am currently building a P3 sequencer kit from the bottom up, but have enjoyed the MD midi machines for a few years now...
When I finally went through the entire manual a few years ago and discovered the midi machines it was like finding jesus.....

yep, these are called midi machines. someone who uses them
more than i do can tell you more about them, i'm sure.
