Thanks to everyone who replied. I suspected what you all have  
confirmed. The MD seems more sensitive than the other equipment that  
was being used that weekend.

At the time I was not running any UPS or line regulator... but I will  
look into getting something now. It is outdoor festival season after  
all and best to be prepared.
