Elektron Musical Instruments

I moderate about 20 or so gear related yahoogroups. I set the settings to moderate all new members. Once I see a message that is not spam I approve the message and change their status. It is not as time consuming as approving all members when they join. Often, folks join and don't post for months. But the first time they do, yes I have to go through a minor hassle. Sometimes their posts have to wait a few days until I can get to it, but after that it is smooth sailing and the groups are spam free. Perhaps you may make a few other trusted folks moderators and do it that way. If you can't do what needs to be done all by yourself, share and delegate.

  yes. and i do it as soon as i possibly can, just like with the last 
  person i had to ban (who was doing the same spams). i don't have 
  time to personally approve every single member (the only 100% 
  effective way to make sure there's no spammers) so banning when i see 
  someone doing this is the only option.
