i doubt the 64 step will be an upgrade.  daniel always said that it  
wasn't added in os updates because there was no way to do it without  
the proper grid indicator led's.  likewise, they never added trigless  
trigs because of the lack of tri-color led's on the md.  so adding  
the 64 step grid would prolly mean changing the interface board and  
the faceplate, which i doubt will happen.

i don't recall elektron saying they'd never upgrade their products  
(on the hardware front), but you may be correct.
