I think you need os 1.5 to move samples from ram to rom, so, well, yes, 
getting a midi interface is a good idea... =)

Also, much more practical to use a computer for manipulating/trimming 
samples before uploading to the MD via SysEx.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
