Elektron Musical Instruments

Hi, 
 
I am having some serious sync issues with both Ableton Live 7 and
Cubase SX and my MDMKII UW. Basically I can trigger sounds no sweat
from either program, but I want to program drums live on my MD not the
cpu sequencer.
 
First Ableton:
 
Timing is horrible on with Ableton. BPM seems to jump up and down and
randomly stop for a brief moment and start again.  At least start and
stop messages take place between ableton and MD. I have everything set
up right for sure, so I'm not sure what's with the sync issues.  
 
Second Cubase SX:
 
I can trigger all sounds no sweat, but no sync period. Start/stop
messages do not work at all and tempo will not lock either. In fact,
my MD won't even change to the Cubase tempo. This may be a Cubase
setting issue, but before I popped the MD into the mix all was well
with sync in my setup with my other synths. 
 
So if you could please help or offer advice it would be extremely
helpful. My rig is as follows: CPU usb out to Novation Remote SL37 out
to MD. All other synth run off the 2nd midi out of the Novation
Remote. I also have a MOTU Ultralite Firewire as my soundcard and have
tried the midi there with the same results. My cpu is running Vista
with 4gigs of ram and has a Core 2 Duo chip at  2.5GHz if that helps.
I don't think its a cpu issue as everything else locked up fine before
the MD entered the equation. Maybe you can offer another way of
setting this rig up? MD as master possibly with cpu syncing to it and
my other gear syncing too? I will try that again, but not so sure
that's the best way or that it will even work how I like.
