Shouldn't you just need to adjust your midi clock offset in live for the machinedrum? This works perfectly for me doing it that way. Keep sampling the md into live and adjusting the clock until the first drum hit lines up perfectly with the grid. use a simple 4/4 short kick drum.

Same problem seems to continue here. I am just checking back to see
if anyone has solved this issue. I have already talked to Jon at
Elektron and he said he also has this issue with Ableton and it is
most likely Ableton's clock. The MD clock is rock solid with all of
my other midi gear and I have a ton of it, so it is definitely
Ableton.
