You seem to know a bit about register updates - are they only a function of
the OS, or does the CPU factor in as well?  I know the one in the SS isnt
quite the same as a pentium or even a 286 for that matter.  It could be that
the clock speed of the CPU is a bottleneck - and in that case it might be a
hardware ceiling instead of a software one.  And I agree that faster updates
would allow for serious sonic mayhem, and I also agree that multi-timbrality
is sorely needed - but I dont have a C64 and I dont plan on buying one - so
I will keep my SS.
