The MM also cannot do "real" granular as it has only 2.65 ms's of delay memory and has no ability to perform "PV, TDHS, FFT, DCT"... I haven't heard an acceptable granular patch on the modular yet. I've also had a go at making a number of them with the limited resources available on one 56309. I hate to say this (because I don't like reaktor), but reaktor will do granular and formants. The biggest difference between a kyma user and those using max/msp or reaktor, is going to be sound quality (we can skip that the kyma has quite a lot more processing modules for now). The kyma can do 672 bands of realtime vocoding. A 800mhz G4 can't even come close to this at 24/96khz. I guess in this case money is your friend. -savant
