okay, here's my informal measurements of machinedrum "noise." when I plug the MD into the aux input into my sp-808, and JACK the input level of the sp-808 past 1/2 way (which I never usually need to do, since it's a very powerful input amplifier), with the machinedrum off or unplugged, it is possible to pick up an AM station with some noise in the background from any input. Output C is slightly quieter than the other 5. with the unit on, there is an ambient noise level with my input amplifier turned up very high, but i can't really tell if it's louder than any of my other instruments. as far as crossover goes, I can make out some from channel to channel. It is very difficult to make out however, as it is quieter than the ambient noise level. as suggested, I played a kick drum in on channel and listened to a neighboring channel. the crossover noise was faintly audible and in some way related to the distortion artificats of a neigbhoring channel. for example, a long decaying kick drum would delay the onset of crossover signals until the sound from the designated track fell within a certain range of frequencies. moreover, it only seemed to occur when the first track was undergoing distortion from the extreme input amplifer settings. I should also add this thing sounds wicked crazy through a sherman filterbank...just ask Elvis...he appeared on my screen tonight and told me so. -N
