Well yes, if you have no source of percussive sound (or a bunch of synths) then a sampler is a great choice. Modern samplers have synthesis capabilities, but don't expect a juno from 1 sample ;) But you can indeed make all of your music on a sampler .. Self oscillation of a single looped waveform can be an interesting approach to make your sampler do synth sounds. >Yup.. Know what you mean ..
