>Nope .. I just feel that I need to get something more serious >than this (not being negative )... like a sampler ... + that I have had problems >fitting in its special sound into my kind of music .. so I figured >better let someone who really wants one buy it instead . Interesting you say that, it's not exactly a workhorse synth ... I'd like to get something a bit more standard soon too, like a nord micro.. >I really hate when the filters distort .. and that there is no volume >setting for the three dcos ... it's very temperamental .. sometimes i swap sounds and go "yikes! - this sound bad!"... however, effects make a big difference, and these days i find myself tuning into a desirable SID sound, then just patching it through effects and leaving it on that sound. If you assign the DCs to some setting you can a wide range of sounds from the front... The distortion *can* be nasty yes, and is uncontrollable..

>Interesting you say that, it's not exactly a workhorse synth ... >I'd like to get something a bit more standard soon too, like a nord micro.. not to replace this SID tho .. no no no! oh yes, i got nanoloop too ( www.nanoloop.de ) from oli .. fantastic!! :) androo

>What is it exactly .. a soft synth or a real physical product? It's a hard/softsynth experimental project. still in beta stages (testing).. androo

>Hmm thought about them too .. tho I was interested in the keyboard version >of the big brother to micro .. but I realise now that a sampler is going to be the >best thing for my limited home studio .. Well yes, if you have no source of percussive sound (or a bunch of synths) then a sampler is a great choice. Modern samplers have synthesis capabilities, but don't expect a juno from 1 sample ;) But you can indeed make all of your music on a sampler .. Self oscillation of a single looped waveform can be an interesting approach to make your sampler do synth sounds. >Yup.. Know what you mean .. However I have made some really freaky >ringmodulation sounds .. really cool , goes very well to ambient techno stuff . great.. got a preset of it? ... >I have tried some filtering stuff on it , sending a drum loop >thru its filters really rocks =) .. yes yes .. a great slapping lofi sound :) (i love the way it makes the signal sound so crispy) :) >Hmm .. so it cant be changed at all then ? well, if the chip distorts internally you get this ripping, cooking sound .. which is great :) .. on some sound, however, it can be quite harsh and undesirable... andrew

there is nothing standard about a micro modular. They are so open, it's not funny. ----- Original Message ----- From: andrew sargeant <androo@...> To: <elektron-users@onelist.com> Sent: Sunday, January 16, 2000 11:51 AM Subject: Re: [elektron] Sid station for sale ! > From: "andrew sargeant" <androo@...> > > >Interesting you say that, it's not exactly a workhorse synth ... > >I'd like to get something a bit more standard soon too, like a nord micro..
