Using a compressor will only make the SIDStation noise more apparent. We 
actually like this effect, and use a Boss MetalZone distortion behind the 
SID most of the time (but hey.. we like it raw).

If you want to get rid of the noise, use a de-noiser or a noisegate. 
Behringer does sell these things (the SNR2000 for instance). You also might 
have a look at the Drawmer DS201.
