Moreno, To try and help with your choice, I'll first give you some background info on myself. I've been using the Roland TR-Series quite intensively for years now. Although they're basically just 'preset'-boxes, I like the programming, and the hands-on control over virtually every parameter. Besides the Roland's, I am a big fan of Old Simmons Drumsynths, which are by no means 'preset'-boxes.. and offer a wide variety of sounds with a huge range of control. I owned a RackAttack for about two weeks. I bought it because I was instantly convinced by its sound. It is powerful, and can really cut through a mix like butter. The downside is the control, because you hardly have any. The well-known Micro-Q interface is just not for me. And building drumsounds from scratch is not my thing either. At least not by toggling, switching and selecting things from cryptic menu's. I have also had a chance to play with the MD for a couple of hours. And again.. the sound blew me away! I had a 909 with me to compare the two, but the MD was ever so more powerful (but then again... don't be fooled by that.. it's how it sounds in the mix that really counts). The MD has a full-featured TR-style sequencer (the RA has not). There's more controls than on the RA, but there's still a lot of menu's to plough through to get to all the settings (I guess there's just too many of them.. ). If it is a staight one-to-one choice between the two.. don't even bother about the RackAttack.. and get yourself an MD. But even the MD has some downsides to it. Many of which have been discussed on this very list already. Anyway.. I hope my considerations can be of help.
