  Actually:  If I have more than say three locks on a particular 
note, I'll try to put one or two of them one click BEFORE the actual 
note, thereby avoiding any delay problems.  It works...

  According to Elektron, it takes 1 millisecond.

  Next question:  How to make it spit out "slide" as a MIDI 
parameter?  Or is that already implemented?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
